Lynx is pleased to announce the first preview of the Lynx Web Seismic Viewer. A live preview is available here:
http://data.lynxinfo.co.uk/apps/iseisview/NetherlandsSeismic (14/03/2014 – viewer updated to version 1.10)
This is a new web server application for viewing 2D seismic lines in a web browser, with interactive display and scaling options. Seismic viewer windows can be launched from a seismic basemap or from a searchable list of seismic lines.
The screenshots above show:
- seismic basemap (using OpenLayers framework) with interactive seismic viewer window
- full-screen seismic display
- multiple seismic viewer windows open simultaneously
- searchable list of seismic lines, choice of seismic display styles
The web seismic viewer can be integrated into your existing web mapping applications built with OpenLayers, Google Maps or the ArcGIS for Server Javascript API, or it can be configured as an independent web application using seismic locations in KML format or read directly from Oracle Spatial. Server-side deployment requires a Java servlet container such as Apache Tomcat, running on Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008 or Windows Server 2012.
The seismic data is stored in SEG-Y format on the web server, and the seismic viewer servlet transmits image tiles of the seismic line from a dynamic cache to the browser client.
Server-side configuration gives full control over the display styles, scales and zoom levels permitted on the browser client. This makes the viewer ideal for data-room scenarios where access to the digital data must be protected, or for seismic QC on a corporate intranet.
The current preview version is optimised for Windows desktop browsers – Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox and Microsoft Internet Explorer 8+. Support for tablets and mobile devices will be added soon.
The web seismic viewer is ideal for virtual data rooms and corporate intranets.
